Shell will block its Shell Recharge Solutions charging cards with home charging reimbursement as of 28 January.

Shell has decided to block Shell Recharge Solutions charging cards with home charging reimbursement as of 28 January.

From that moment on, these charging cards will no longer work, not even at home charging points. The affected charging cards cannot be reactivated.

Charging cards with home charging reimbursement

If you wish to continue charging with home charging reimbursement, the application for a new charging card must be arranged by your employer or leasing company. More information can be found via: https://www.shell.co.uk/business/shell-fleet-solutions.

Charging without home charging reimbursement

For users without home charging reimbursement, there are two options to apply for a new charging card:

  • Applying for a new Shell charging card via the Shell app (note: not the Shell Recharge Solutions app).

  • Applying for a 50five charging card via the 50five website, suitable for both home charging and public charging.

A Shell charging card must be activated in the Shell app before use (note: not the Shell Recharge Solutions app and not the 50five e-mobility app). A 50five charging card does not need to be activated. After receipt, both cards can be linked to the home charging point via the 50five e-mobility app.

Do you use Plug & Charge? In that case, this function must first be terminated with the old charging card. After linking the new charging card, Plug & Charge can be reactivated from 24 January in the 50five e-mobility app.

Self-employed and small business users

Self-employed and small business users can choose a business 50five charging card (our charging key fob). The kWh consumption is recorded and periodically invoiced. Creating a company account is required if you do not yet have one. To ensure correct processing of the payments for your subscription(s), the payer of the subscription must follow the steps below:

  1. Create a company account via:
    https://50five.evc-net.com/Register/.
    a. Please note: use a different email address than that of your personal user account, otherwise the account cannot be verified.

  2. Follow the instructions on the page to fully register the account.

  3. Once the account has been created, please contact our customer support stating the company name or the email address with which the account was registered.

  4. Upon receipt, we will activate the account.
    a. Please note: you will receive a code after creating your account. This code can only be used after we have activated your account. It is normal to receive an error message before that time.
